United Airlines Sucks, part II
Stuff like this almost makes me doubt the veracity of the New York Times--are they making this stuff up?
Young Fliers See the Film, Be It PG or R
A husband shoots his wife in the face, then drags her body from the pool of blood...These are images from movies shown to passengers recently on overhead screens in airlines.United and US Airways have increased the frequency with which they show such films.
Nina Plotner, an account manager with InFlight Productions, Inc., said: "If we take all the good things out, there's not going to be a lot left to play."
Eric Klieman, director of product marketing for Continental Airlines, said: "People love Pepsi, and we don't serve that, so there you go, we just ruined their flight. That's an accurate analogy...People have to be resonsible for the actions of their kids--whether they shouldn't look a the screen or look away."
New York Times, September 1, 2007
Do people really say these things, or is the New York Times just being inflammatory? Hmm, the New York Times.
Well, Nina Plotner and Eric Klieman, you guys suck. You have no business being in that business. On a crowded airplane on a five hour flight, you expect somebody with a six-year-old chained to the seat next to them to do what, exactly?
What part of these two sets of images do you think go together? If you honestly think there's nothing wrong with this combination, then I say you have the moral compass of the black stuff I scraped off the grill yesterday.
I mentioned this once before, I think.
While I'm here, I think I'll link to KidSafeFilms.org, who also has something to say about the issue. Though I disagree with them in that I don't think it should take an act of Congress to fix the problem. If the airlines can't show an iota of good judgement, then the market will speak. For myself, as long as Frontier and Southwest can get me there, these other guys won't be seeing any of my flying dollars.

Ouch! I'm using that one, hopefully not often but it's MINE, thanks
